Classroom Library Wish List
For Teaching Children's Literature, I have created a Pinterest list of books I'd love to add to my growing collection of children's books. Each category is headed with an explanation of why that genre is important to myself, my future students and their education. Poetry books offer students exposure to language arts skills that will better their academic futures. Also, who doesn't love a personally written poem? Historical Fiction is especially important in making history relatable to students, expanding their background knowledge. My Nonfiction Picture books collection is full of beautifully done illustrations discussing and promoting the inquiry of animals and their adaptations, perfect for my potential future at Nature's Classroom or Cahoon Elementary Magnet School. I've fallen in love with each Fantasy book pinned that will expand student's imaginations and creativity. My personal favorite, and most desired books, include those in Multicultural Literature. These stories are fiction or nonfiction, and especially important to include in the diverse classroom I will have. Finally, Biographies are listed that will build student's interests, expand their worldviews and promote research and inquiry. Each pinned book comes with my personal note of the story's significance and ideas for classroom application.
