Write about "the Best Day EVER!" For morning work, I asked my 4th graders to write about the best day ever. They could recall a past experience or create their ideal day. The learners included illustrations, their friends, funny details and heart-touching sentiments. I was impressed by the voice found in a lot of student's responses that is usually missing from their assignments. I wrote back to the students and gave them their papers back the next day. A majority of them chose to put their papers (with my comments) on the "Wall of Fame!" I believe that by taking the 20 minutes to respond to my students, they embraced the writing and were proud of their work. Moving forward, I will definitely continue this trend. Below, you can check out the students' best days and my responses.
